Working Conditions in a Creative Advertising Agency

WHAT AGENCIES ARE DOING TO IMPROVE OFFICE CULTURE

What does a workflow procedure look like in an advertising agency?

Essential Tools for Implementing and Managing the Creative Workflow Process

Industry Specialist Feedback:

Bashar Daas – Partner, Creative Director at FROM6

  • “The overall idea is great and is something that I would love to have in my workplace.”
  • “One of the major issues we have in big agencies is communication between client and the barrier in between which gets lost in translation.”
  • “Designers’ handovers have been a challenge with missing assets, links and other files.”
  • Perhaps having a history of clients’ feedback on the cloud would give the designers a better understanding on how they think and enhance future projects, reducing the number of feedbacks going back and forth.”

Reflections:

  • In terms of communication between agency and client especially with the creative team, this tool enables meetings with the client in order to clarify any misunderstanding or ambiguities in feedback which makes it easier for designers to get the point.
  • All required assets will be saves in order of brand names and specific projects/campaigns so no assets will be missing anymore with the new Creative Digital Toolbox.
  • The Digital Toolbox shall have a history of previous projects and client feedbacks for designers to have a better understanding on how they think and shall help to enhance future projects.

Week 7

External panel evaluation and review | Case study presentations

Reflections:

  • To start testing the viability of my project, I must start connecting with graphic design experts first to get their perspective on their challenges and struggles within creative agencies and studios.
  • Gathering feedback and different points of view is crucial in order to develop my digital tool further
  • I am very connected with the industry experts in the graphic design/advertising field, and most are willing to help out
  • In terms of methodologies, I shall be conducting virtual interviews either by video or calls, also use questionnaires and surveys later.

Week 8

External Panel Review

Feedback & Questions:

  • Different than Adobe Libraries (open source?) Omar: The tool has a wide variety of features that Adobe Libraries does not.
  • Technical side – file compatibilities? Different software when sharing. Omar: all files will be shared via the cloud and all software is compatible
  • Very little F2F interaction, consider size and scope of users. Omar: Yes, this digital tool was thought of during the pandemic. It enables collaboration between agencies working from different geographical regions and different time zones. With this pandemic, traveling was restricted overall, so this tool will enable agencies to collaborate and deliver as if they are meeting up physically and brainstorming together all ideas. The digital toolbox shall be provided as different packages and with different number of users based on the agency/studio size.
  • How can it reduce redundant work? Is there a way to improve feedback communication when it is too vague or conflicting? Omar: Sharing work and chatting amongst teams will reduce redundant work. Yes, meeting rooms shall include clients invited to creative presentations where creatives and accounts shall be present to present, discuss and get client feedback and reduce any misunderstandings or ambiguities.
